Integrating Internet into Curriculum

ciaWeb based activities are great for creating variety within a classroom. Students need a wide range of activities and lessons in order to stay motivated when working on assignments. Web based activities offer diversity, variety of learning experiences, and a vast resources used for knowledge acquirement. The different types of integration strategies include: support for student research, motivation for writing, practice for information literacy skills, visual learning problems and solutions, collaborative skill development, and multicultural experiences, There are so many different resources and web based learning experiences that incorporate each strategy. A great way to integrate the internet into projects is to encourage web based research by using the ever so famous Google.com to find so many exciting websites that offer a variety of information about the particular topic assigned. The internet could also be used as a motivation tool for writing; blogs could help motivate children when it pertains to writing because they are able to choose a topic and express and create whatever they feel necessary. Most students do not have the wealth or time to experience and travel the world, so the internet brings the many different places of the world to their computer. Students are able to experience the different places of the world such as the beauty, troubles, good and bad experiences, knowledge, and pictures of the many different places of the world. Students are able to see how other children around the world live whether they live in good or bad conditions. The internet really makes things that we are unable to experience in real life come alive, so that we can try to relate to them. there are also several functions that support web based learning activities such as: project overview, announcement and application, tutorial instruction, and information summaries and exchanges. I think it is very important to incorporate technology within the curriculum because it creates a certain type of diversity that students need with today’s learning environment; technology is important with every job, so our students should learn and understand how to use the internet and technology to fully benefit them.
